Making a financial commitment
Making a financial commitment to counselling needs to be sustainable, to prevent the work ending unexpectedly and without preparation. It also needs to be comfortable, to prevent worries about cost affecting the work.
If you’re unsure about making a financial commitment to counselling, there are organisations that offer low-cost or free counselling. Your GP can also refer you for therapy or counselling through the NHS.
How fees are calculated
In counselling and therapy, you pay to reserve a regular session time rather than for the individual sessions you attend. I charge £60 for in-person and online (video and phone) sessions.
Mixing online and in-person work
If you‘ve reserved a regular in-person session time, it’s possible to attend online when this is more convenient for you. It’s also possible to shift to another day or time when there is availability to do this.
Missed sessions
As part of the counselling agreement, you commit to making payment for any missed sessions. This because I will set aside a regular slot each week to work with you, whether you’re able to attend or not.
Counselling breaks
I consider a counselling break to be anything above 2 consecutive sessions. Clients who plan to take a break from counselling, but who want to reserve their session time, will be asked to continue to make regular payments at the usual rate to hold the space.
Clients who plan to take a break from counselling, but who don’t want to reserve their session time, should factor in 2-3 sessions to work towards an ending, to be discussed with the counsellor.
Making payments
Payment for sessions can be made in advance in a block or on a weekly basis. I accept payment by bank transfer. I will provide you with a receipt for payments made. I will issue you with an invoice for planned sessions if requested in advance.
What if I have a complaint or suggestion?
If you are unhappy or dissatisfied with the service you receive please let me know at the earliest opportunity, and I will try to resolve any issues or concerns. If you have suggestions to how I could improve my service, please do let me know at any time.
